About Our Instructors
Kristin R. Pelatti is a real estate/land use attorney and CEO of Assure Abstract. Kristin attended Siena College earning a B.S. in Accounting and Pre-Law Certificate. While in college, Kristin received her real estate license and began working as a salesperson at Keller Williams Hudson Valley Realty.
As college went on her love for real estate and law grew and she was accepted into the accelerated program at Pace University School of Law. Kristin was on the executive board of the Pace Environmental Law Review and an active volunteer in the Land Use Law Center. Kristin graduated in 2018 with her Juris Doctor with a concentration in Real Estate and Land Use Law.
Kristin was admitted to the New York State Bar and began practicing as a Real Estate and Land Use attorney. While practicing, she was accepted into a Fellowship at Pace University School of Law as the Land Use Law Fellow and received her LLM in Environmental Law with a concentration on Land Use and Sustainable Development. Kristin actively worked at this time with the Land Use Law Center facilitating numerous trainings for land use board of municipalities within New York.
After her Fellowship, Kristin worked at MarksDiPalermo, PLLC as a Real Estate and Municipal Law Associate. In this positions she served as Deputy Corporation Council for the City of Rye. Kristin continued to represent buyers, sellers, lenders and investors in real estate transactions and as counsel for developers in various development projects appearing before land use boards for approvals needed.
In 2021 Kristin co-founded Assure Abstract a title company focused on serving the Hudson Valley not only through title services but its philanthropic efforts to assist the communities it serves. Kristin is a member for BNI Alliance Builders and the New York State Bar Association.
Margaret T. Ling has been a real estate attorney since 1986. Her real estate experience commenced with a private real estate practice for almost a decade. Prior to practicing as a real estate attorney, Margaret was a Deputy Court Clerk for Chief Judge Constance Baker Motley of the United States District Court -Southern District of New York. Following her clerkship, Margaret focused on the area of immigration law before transitioning into real estate law.
Currently, Margaret is in the role of Business Development and Counsel for the New York State Agency Division of Amtrust Title Insurance Company.
For over the past twenty years, Margaret has been in house title underwriting counsel in the title insurance industry. She has been responsible for all legal title underwriting for both residential and commercial real estate. She has held positions as Agency Counsel at Titleserv; Instracoastal Abstract; Summit Associates; Skyline TRG Title Agency; First Nationwide Title Insurance Company (now known as Amtrust Title Insurance Company). She also held positions at the Underwriter Level as New York State Agency Underwriting Counsel at Stewart Title Insurance Company; Ticor-Fidelity National Title Group. Margaret was also employed as New York State Claims Counsel at First American Title Insurance Company.
Margaret received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Cum Laude and Dean's List from Barnard College - Columbia University and her Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School. She is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, Appellate Division, and Second Department.
Margaret currently serves as the Co-Chairperson of the Real Estate Committee of the Asian American Bar Association of New York ("AABANY"); Former Business Director and Board of Director of AABANY; Board of Director and Co-Chairman of the Real Property Section and Asian Practice Committee of the New York County Lawyers Association; Vice President of the New York State Network of Bar Leaders; Member of the Steering Committee of the Collaborative Bar Leadership Academy of the American Bar Association; Member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Women in Law Committee of the New York State Bar Association;
Further, Margaret is a Board of Director of the New York Law School Alumni Association; Board of Director of the Asian Columbia Alumni Association; Board of Director of the Asian Real Estate Professional Association; Board of Director of the Brooklyn Real Estate Board; Board of Director of the Queens Chamber of Commerce Foundation; Member of the National Tristate Diversity Council; Mentor for the World Journal Press "Dollars for Scholars" Scholarship Program for High School and College Students.
Margaret was recently appointed Chief Diversity and Inclusion Counsel for the Executive Diversity and Inclusion Council (“EDIC”). EDIC is a not for profit organization dedicated to assisting both corporate, academic, and not for profit organizations meet their Diversity and Inclusion goals through education and data.
When Margaret is not busy being an Attorney, she is dedicated to her volunteer golf and tennis activities. Since 2008, Margaret has been the Volunteer Chair of the Pro Am-Special Events for the PGA Tour - The Northern Trust -FedEx Cup Golf Tournament. For 2021, Margaret is honored to be elevated to Division Director of The Northern Trust in charge of all Tournament Hospitality; Media, Pro Am & Special Events. Since 2011, Margaret has also been an active Volunteer with the Pro Am Committee at the LPGA Shoprite Acer Tournament in Galloway, New Jersey. Margaret is also a Certified Golf Coach with the First Tee and spends her weekends with the First Tee of Raritan Valley Chapter in New Jersey. She teaches young golfers ranging in age from 7-9- years old and is very proud of them. Margaret is also member of the United States Golf Association and the United States Tennis Association. She also participates and assists with the United State Tennis Foundation which is the charitable arm of the United States Tennis Association.
